Alana Kivowitz, LCSW

As a licensed clinical social worker, I find great meaning in helping people grow, whether working with clients to develop insight, seek balance, manage a mental illness, cope with a stressful experience, or enhance connection with others. My work draws on my passion for social justice and advocacy, and I use a strength-based, trauma-informed and healing-centered, humanistic framework to empower my clients. I believe that trust, empowerment, and collaboration should be at the center of our therapeutic relationship. I strive to create a compassionate, engaging, interactive, non-judgmental and safe place for us to explore, reflect, process, grow, and heal together.

My experiences in the field of mental health, including as a crisis counselor working in suicide prevention, an advocate for survivors of sexual violence, and a psychotherapist within a community mental health setting, have been influential in shaping my approach to clinical work. During sessions, I draw from a number of therapeutic techniques, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, to best meet your individualized needs, whether it be addressing symptoms of depression and anxiety, processing past trauma, navigating life’s ups and downs, or adding proactive coping skills to your tool box!

I am looking forward to getting to know you and supporting you throughout your journey towards healing!
