It is difficult to acknowledge that you are not satisfied with your life as it currently exists. Seeking help is a courageous first-step. In my work, I hope to honor this readiness to make change while providing enough space for a full range of emotions, along with the ambivalence that may still be present, in a non-judgmental atmosphere.

In my practice, I’ve found that one of the biggest barriers to treatment can be the ways in which we have internalized societal constructs about what it means to be in psychological distress (“internalized stigma”), and that one’s fears of being “broken” or “sick” can impede the willingness to access appropriate care. To this end, I pay particular attention to one’s cultural background and various identities, treating these with sensitivity and helping my clients to understand how these identities have interacted with our larger societal milieu.

My goal is to create a space of curiosity and compassion—an atmosphere where a conversation can take place between the parts of you that are whole, resilient, and intact and the parts that are calling out for more attention. To this end, our work together will combine interventions based on EBPs (Evidence-Based Practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing) delivered in a manner that takes into account the deeper layers of our psyche, spirituality, and humanity. With a background in Buddhist Psychology, Mindfulness, and Somatic Psychotherapy (body-based), we will collaborate to integrate the changes you are making on all levels of your being.

My training has included working with those experiencing overlapping physical, mental, and substance use issues, as well as extensive work with those living with Bipolar and Psychotic disorders. Trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, depression, questions of gender identity and sexual orientation, and life transitions are all concerns I feel equipped to help you navigate. I look forward to hearing from you soon as you take this next big step for your health and well-being.
