Antidepressants Update

Peter ForsterMajor Depression, Treatments of Depression, Website Update

I just wanted to make a quick note that I recently posted a major update of the information on this site about antidepressants. This follows the recent introduction of a few interesting new antidepressant medications. I hope to expand that by adding a page talking about atypical antipsychotics and perhaps other classes of medications routinely used in this practice. Since there are books that are devoted to each of these classes of medications, the single web page summaries are of necessity vastly over-simplified. And since this is a first revision of the antidepressant information, I am sure that there will be many changes to come.

The focus is in particular on discussing the different classes of medications (serotonin reuptake inhibitors, norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin modulators, etcetera) with an eye to helping discuss the range of options people have when beginning an antidepressant.

If you visit the pages please let me know with comments if there are inaccuracies or suggestions for changes.
